Capcom's Director of Brand Marketing & eSports, Matt Dahlgren, had some compelling things to say about the fighting game genre in an interview conducted back at New York Comic-Con earlier this year. "I really think online is the future of fighting games," stated Dahlgren at the time. Capcom said they have plans to put a heavy emphasis on the online aspect of Street Fighter 5, offering the community new tools and research options to level up their skills. Dahlgren noted that they've put a lot of focus into the online experience in SF5, and they want to give the community tools they need to find different matches, do research and level up their game. "That's where the Capcom Fighters Network comes in, you can search for all of the different matches that are going on, you can drill down per region, there's a big world map. You can use that to find your favorite player, and study their replays," said Dahlgren.
